The Challenger Society for Marine Sciences (CSMS) has some great small funding opportunities to allow early career scientists to progress their career paths when between contracts. I was able to secure some of this to pump prime links with researchers in Florida based universities looking at natural environmental variables with microplastic pollution (photo shows the view from the Vester field Station). This also posed itself as an excellent opportunity to gain insight into working within international research and teaching environments, something which is becoming increasingly important in professional research profiles.
Overall I had an incredibly productive trip and highly recommend others to apply for this excellent source of funding.
